The Situation Today
Each year nearly 3.0 million Service Members, Veterans and Families return to civilian life and find themselves in situations of confusion and loneliness; with many experiencing depression, drug abuse, divorce, unemployment, homelessness and suicide. Nearly 40% bring home the “invisible injuries of war”: traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). And countless find it difficult to obtain gainful employment at a living wage with opportunities for advancement.
